I am trying to take some shots with our camera. I have some awesome looking zoas that have a orange center under the actinics.....Well all I can get is a semi blurry photo and not capture any of the orange.

If I use the flash, it just brown everything out, and if i dont I get too much blue and green.

I have tried all of the iso setting from 200-1600 as well.

The clearest photo I can get is with the night setting and the flash off.

but I still cant see any orange!

I am using a trypod, and the camera is shooting at a down angle at the polyps about 8" away from an acrylic tank.

Any help is appreciated! we have used this to take some very cool outdoor photos, but not for our fish yet.

here is an example of some photos we normally take.

Lesson One.....never shoot at a downward angle for tank shots. Shoot as straight on as possible. You get distortion from shooting at an angle.

Point Two....try setting the custom white balance and see what happens. The only person I know who has a S9000 is a friend who gets really nice tank shots. I'm pretty sure she sets the custom white balance for them.

And nice pics btw! I've always thought folks who run those courses are totally insane!
