I might get a large 240g tank for my office, where Im not always there, at least 5 days of the week I will be there. People will be on a regular basis from Monday to Saturday and its always closed on sundays.

Do you think its a bad idea to get a large reef tank for the office?

I know a nice ATO and a large fresh water container will be needed

I would look into a controller. Specificly one that will notify if something is amiss. Alot of alarm companies are also offering a flood sensor as part of their install which would be good for a catastrophic failure. People have large aquariums in offices all the time you just have to midigate the risk untill you are comfortable leaving your reef alone.

I have a 70g tank at home with a RKL a tunze osmolator and chiller, I have left my house for vacations for more than 10 days and everything goes great. I can leave my home alone for a couple of days even on extreme summer weather here in the desert without any worries since everything is automated.

I think I would just need to train my secretary or someone to check the top off water and temp daily (monday to saturday)

It is not huge but it is a larger office tank.

Elos 120XL, shared by two offices.

my 1350gl's at work and im there only 5 days a week....dont worry about it to much but i dont have 2 days off in a row
the guy next door to me has my contact info and he calls if there's an issue

my 280 ran for 6.5 years in my office.
It is no longer running due to a chiller failure.
It was hard to let go for the weekends, but I got use to it.
Do yourself a favor, remember heat/ac change on nights & weekends when no one is around prepare for the highs and lows....

Yes my central AC is not on 24/7, just during the day and its shut off all nights and on sundays.

Im gonna install a chiller and also the room where the reeftank will be has a minisplit AC which will stay on during the nights to help with the temp swings...

These are how I monitor the tank from home:
Apex controller: send me e-mail notice when power is out, and temp or pH is off
Ethernet Cameras: remote access to check into tank and sump (water level)
3 Vortex battery backups
