I bought a purple LTA about a month ago. He had been doing pretty well--wandered about 6 inches in the first week then wedged himself between some rocks and opened up. He's small..only about 5 inches diameter opened.
The last few days he seemed to be tyring to move again and just now I found him sucked into my Koralia. It didn't do any damage to him since he never made it to the prop, but he actually crawled between two of the tines of the cover.
I probably should have left him be and turned the pump off (hindsight being 20-20 and all) but instead I tried to get him loose. Shriveled up he's about the size of a small plum so those tines were a tight squeeze!
I broke 3 of the tines to give me more room and squeezed him out. I fear the removal did more damage than the pump, but what's done is done. He's in tact, but was definitely cut in a small area or two because he started to slime bad and I also saw some fleshy slime wash off. Only a part of him though...the rest is still in good shape.
I relocated him to my sump into an acrylic shelter with limited flow overhead (not enough to blow him out of the shelter) and no light.
What should I do to give this guy his best chance at survival? Full Light/No Light/PC Light, High Flow/Now Flow/Low Flow, etc.
I'm kicking myself for not just letting him walk his way through with the pump off, but I panicked when I saw it on the way out the door, not realizing he was actually OK where he was...a 1/2" from total annihilation, but still ok. D*mn, d*mn, d*mn!
Anyway....HELP!
