Hi All,
I just moved to Vinita, OK which is about 30min from Joplin. Are there any stores there or is there a club that includes that area?

Just looking for more SW people in my area.

Thanks,
Stephanie

Steph - I don't think there's anything in Joplin - maybe a a chain pet store like Petsmart or something, but no saltwater stores that I know of. My Dad lives in Bartlesville (about 40-50min) from you - and there's ONE pet store there that has SOME saltwater. I went to that place last summer while I was visiting and was far from impressed... sorry I don't have better news for you :bum:

Tulsa has some really good stores and they're only about an hour. And, Rogers, AR is supposed to have an amazing place and I think that's only about 45 minutes. So, I'm not completely isolated, I'm just looking into all the possibilities.

Thanks though.

I'm going to be in Bartlesville next weekend - and probably going to Tulsa - would you mind telling me the name of your favorite(s) there? I'd really like to visit some nicer ones than the one in Bartlesville.
By the way - the store in Rogers IS as good as everyone says it is :)

sure. I have 3 favorites: Aquarium Oddballs, Reef Revolution, and Premier Aquatics (I think). I've been to the stores each one time and they each had their own strengths and weaknesses. I think I also liked Tulsa Aquatics and Ultimate Reefs, but I can't remember them very well.

Here is the link to my club's website. This link will show you the Tulsa stores and map them for you. Click on the store name and you can get their hours and other info. Also available here are stores in Oklahoma City, Dallas, and Wichita if you're ever that way. To access these, just click beside where it says 'store group'.

this is the the Tulsa club forum:

not much goes on there, but this one

covers the rest of the state and there is a lot of activity there - even Tulsa people.

If you get to any of the stores, let me know what you think. I haven't had the chance to compare them to anything besides the few in OKC.

Steve's right, Joplin has little to offer. I just moved from there (to Bentonville) actually, and am finally getting back online but still not really settled (still lots of boxes).

There is a Pet Warehouse on W. 7th that is poor. Last time I was there, they had an adult Niger Trigger in about a 25g tank. On rare occassion do they have corals, which is probably good.

ClawPaws is in Webb City and Pittsburg. It's okay with fish, and they're willing to order things for you. Coral selection is usually thin.

PetsMart is there but does not carry SW.

I always made a trip to Rogers when I could get the chance, about once a month, and now I'm much closer.

I made a few trips to Tulsa. Aquarium Oddballs was nice and the owner was helpful. I got a Clown Fairy Wrasse that was awesome. I had him for about a year but then he found a way to jump out.

I visited all the other stores, and some were okay and some not so much.

KC and STL have a couple of nice ones, but that's stretching the mileage.

I just still have to name ET in Rogers as the favorite.
