apex controller issues

I am having trouble connecting to my apex. I can no longer access it with fusion. I can hook directly to it and see it on the apex discovery program but I can not get online with it. Anybody got any ideas.

I have the same problems on occasion. Usually fix Mine by power cycling the Apex and the home router/ modem

Can you get to it from a computer locally at your house?. Check it by entering the IP address of the controller and any web browser.

This is beyond reboot. I have done all that. I cannot connect directly from a laptop to the controller via an Ethernet connection. IP addressing is all good. You can reboot all day no change. I can see the controller using the apex browser app. which finds the ip address and mac address, but when you try to open it in the browser to program it I get nothing. It won't connect. Tried making sure the port was correct also that did not work.

Makes me wonder if the listening port on the apex could have been changed. Not even sure if it is possible to change it from 80.

Do you have a backup of your programming? You could do a factory init of all settings then see if that does it. You will lose all your settings so far, but you will atleast be able to get to it.

Try cleaning your ports on your apex. Maybe change the cable all so. Sometimes when ports get dirty or you look at a cat5 cable the wrong way they can do some funky things.

I have a feeling this is not your problem but it may be worth a try. I usually try the most complicated thing 1st to fix the simplest issue. Don't be like me haha :)

Ya, tried all that. Tried different cables. The little apex browser program that finds the IP address is working and can see the apex controller. It reads back the IP and Mac address so I know I have a good connection. (or at least I think I do) I even tried cussing at it. Didn't work. Made me feel a little better though.

See I thought about that. My port was set to 410. So I set it back to 80. When I did that and I tried going online with it directly connected to my laptop it came up with the user/password screen. I was like score. Then it just sits there doing nothing its like it is trying to go online but nothing is responding. I don't have the program backed up that I know of but there is not much there right now so the INIT may be the next move.

Alright then. If you are getting to the password screen, then obviously you are hitting the correct port. There is an error on the apex webserver it sounds like. When you use the Apex firmware updater, make sure the webpage files are being flashed correctly and fully. I have seen on occasion while flashing mine that it errors out on a file and stops the updater. You may have to do it several times.

Now, just using your display, what does it say the Fusion status is? Mine has said Fusion:Ok or something like that before but it gave me a crazy *** key with ascii characters in it that i was to lazy to replicate. So I had to use the web interface to get to. Only way that I found to disconnect it and issue a new fusion key is to do a mem and system init.

Even when I get the password screen and I am trying to log on it says fusion: no conn, obviously telling me no connection.

And still nothing with fusion when you enable it from the display?

Nope. It seems like the webpage is corrupt or missing. I try reflashing the web page files and still nothing. I tried dropping back a version and still nothing. weird that I can flash the updates and webpages but I cannot open the classic dashboard while directly connected. I am trying to figure out how to back it up so that I can init. I am also worried that I init and then I am back to no program and no way to connect, then I am really screwed.

I had a problem where I would get frequent notifications of power failures. Sometimes multiple times a day and it was getting worse. Until 1 day I was working and fusion said my heater was stuck on and my tank was 84.0 degress. Tried everything to turn off heat but nothing would work. Even telneting in. The heater was stuck on on rather than auto. Hustles home and found everything was OK. Just fusion and classic Interface was froze. When I powered down the Apex by unplugging I started getting a system check that wouldn't go away. I did a system init and reflashed firmware and Web software. After that I was able to get into it and reprogram the unit. Of course, it is back to doing the same thing again, just not as often.

Something just isn't right. I flashed the new update which it let me do. I just cannot access the classic dashboard while directly connected.

You say "flash" do you mean init'd the memory or completely set it to factory defaults? I have a copy of the admin software from Apex if you would like to completely wipe it and reset. Do you have a backup of yours?
