apex controller issues

You say "flash" do you mean init'd the memory or completely set it to factory defaults? I have a copy of the admin software from Apex if you would like to completely wipe it and reset. Do you have a backup of yours?

Yes reset it to factory defaults. It did not work. I lost everything including the display. Some of my outlets I had setup for default on but unfortunately my light timers are me know. I have tried everything. It seems I have some kind of corrupted memory block and it will not load anything. I have started a support ticket. Hopefully they are not bogged down with a bunch of not smart people who just got an apex for Christmas and cant figure out how to plug it in. Sorry if you are one of those people. I will come and help you get yours going if you stay away from support.:D

I've had trouble with software at work before acting the same way. You connect and everything is peachy. But the webGUI doesn't respond. McAfee Firewall seems to always be the culprit. Turning it Off does the trick. Different system updates seem to have an on again, off again issue with this trouble.

Just to update. I worked with Neptune support for a couple days and they finally came to the realization that I already figured. The flash memory was corrupt and would not allow for reflashing. It has what appears to be a bad memory sector. I was scared of this because flash memory is not all that stable over time. The end result is a new controller base unit. It is 290.00 for a new one but existing owners can get it for the low low price of $215.00. I guess the discount is better than nothing. Into my tank my money does go.

Will they tell you what they are using in there or can you crack it open and see the part that's broken? Can't br ask it any more anyway :) I bet you an buy it for next to nothing and replace it yourself if you have soldering tools. The software is free. Heck, even the soldering stuff can be had for next to nothing these days or you can borrow mine.

Ouch...I guess its better than continually guessing what was wrong.

No warranty for anything like that?

No warranty. To old.

I was thinking about doing that. If it is just the memory module then that should be a piece of cake to swap out as long as they don't have some proprietary bastard part which I doubt. I like tearing things apart to see how they work.

Just to update. I received the new controller and got everything back up and running. Well almost, still have some programming but everything is working at a minimum. I had the lite version but since that was discontinued I had to get the full version, which now I don't need the wxm module and the brand new PM1 module I just bought so I guess I will be selling those soon. :headwallblue: I am going to tear the old one apart to see what makes it tick. Maybe it is a quick fix with a new flash memory module.
