Apex controller LED Question

I am debating whether or not I should set up an apex controller for my tank.

What I would like to do is have the abiity to turn my led fixtures on from my ipad sitting on the couch.

Is there any special light fixtures that i need in order to do this function or can you just program certain outlets to come on and off via the apple app?

I know that for the dimming, or sunset/thunderstorm effects you need certain lights correct? like AI sol's....

As I look more into it, I see the answer should be yes. I just want to clarify that I could use the system to turn lets say some Chinese 120w Led fixtures on and off from ipad.

The China fixtures are dimmable individually, but would not be dimmable via apex correct, that what you need the AI's for right?

What features do you miss out on between the two combos:
1. Apex controller with china leds
2. Apex controller with AI's

Probably you could say whats the difference between a Ferrari and a Yugo and have the same answer.

Any device that is controllable via a 0 -10vdc signal is capable being controlled by the Apex.

Some devices even though controllable will not dim below 10%.

AI uses a propriority control scheme you need to order the correct module.

I use the AI for ramp up and ramp down.
The ability to control the lights with the Regional settings this mimics the sun and moon phases in the lunar cycles.
I also use the AI to do my moon lighting I have them set to 2%
Although not a must have I like the lighting storm's

We will not even get into the quaility of the Chinese fixtures.

It will do both, but I have 4 AI SOL Blues on my Apex and it's awesome. I know of people that use them to control DIY or other brands that do 0-10v and it works, just don't have the detailed control.
