Apex pages loading ridiculously SLOW

So after having my Apex run side by side with my RKE for a good month I felt enthused enough to start programming it (or so I thought).

Accessing it via local network takes no less than 3 minutes per page to load - changing programming on an outlet and saving takes about 5minutes (if the page doesn't reload in the meantime and kill all my programming).
I have had a webguru access it over the web - same results, I have taken it to purely local (Apex, router, computer - no internet) - same results and finally i hooked it up to my neighbors network - same result.
if this is the normal operating speed of this - it will take me about 4 consecutive DAYS to program my 24 outlets.

Anyone else experience this?
Any way to help with this?
This is a very advanced system - I get that, but if it runs at 2400Baud speed - I might as well walk to my tank 3times a day and change the settings myself...

No, that is definitely not normal. Have you tried different browsers?

In my case, Firefox is a bit slow and sometimes hangs when initially loading the Apex pages. Safari (on Windows) is really bad in general with the Apex. IE8 works great, as does Safari (on MacOS). YMMV...

Yup,
Tried Windows7 w IE7 (don't quote me on the numbers - but the latest version), Google Chrome, Firefox and Apple Safari and Firefox.
Loaded Aquanotes on my iPhone - connection times out EVERY time.

I can ping the Apex, it just doesn't load any pages on time

Ok... can't hurt to check on simple stuff first!

I suggest updating to the latest firmware, or at least refreshing the current firmware, including the web pages. If that proves to be ineffective, you need to contact Neptune support.

Reloading the pages didnt help - i gave up for today.
Tomorrow I'll look into a clean install of firmware again

The latest version of IE is 8 and that is what the web server for Apex works best under.

Besides that what firmware version are you running on the Apex? If you already updated the firmware did you update the web pages too?

It was 8 then (I am a Mac guy) but used my work machine with the latest Windows 7 and all updates.
Regardless which browser works "best" - none of the browsers worked remotely acceptable...

I don't know how to test this on an Apex, but alot of devices, when hooked to certain types of switches (especially cisco stuff) tend to get confused about duplex. The switch will autonegotiate duplex to full, but the device gets confused and picks half, and then the transmission speed is horrific. On more advanced switches you can sometimes lock a port to full/half duplex, but you would need to do the same to the apex. If you have a cheap hub, maybe try plugging it into that and the hub into the switch, just to see if the problem goes away?

Tried different routers and even a crossover cable - it is the headunit and the pages on it, something in it is messed up...

Yup,

pings back in just milliseconds - again, I think I can rule out the network being the issue but rather some internal programming on the APEX itself

Are you sure it's not something like you DNS server that is not set properly and would force the pages to wait for a while before timing out?
