Tonight I came home and the tank was running just fine. I have the Apex controlling my dimmable ATI and the lights started going nuts, dimming turning off, turning back on dimming then turning back on full power. I hadnt even touched the tank or the APEX while it was happening.

I didnt see any issue with the ATI. So I unplugged my EB8 and waited a few seconds and plugged it back in, and now nothing will boot back up.

The EB8 is flashing yellow, and my wmx is flashing yellow.

The ethernet lights are on the base unit but not the power light is off.

I have had it up and running since the end of August early September with no problems.

The only issue I have noticed in the last week is, twice my WMX has lost contact and put my Vortechs in full mode, i unplugged the WMX and plugged it back in and it was fine.

The last time I checked was Septmeber and my firmware was the newest back then.

Any ideas or am I screwed lol

Update: I left it plugged in and after about 4 or 5 minutes everything turned back on and it working like nothing went wrong.

I guess my next questions is should i be concerned? The Apex runs my entire tank and I cant afford to be without it.

It is unclear what caused the original issue making it difficult to say what may have been the issue. I would make sure you are running the latest firmware available, update any Aquabus devices (after updating firmware) and keep an eye on it. The Apex has a built-in lock-up detection system that will restart the Apex if it detect the firmware isn't running so what you saw should be extreamly rare; maybe a brown-out left the Apex in a state unable to recover (but I'd be guessing)...

Keep an eye on it...

That being said..it's electronics (both hardware and software) and not 100% fail proof (ever!). I always have a pump for circulation that's separate from the controller and I also use a digital temp with an alarm. Always good to have a backup...just in case.
(I also have a video camera that I use to check in on the tank, that way I can see that the pumps are running and the lights are on)

Thanks Kenargo,

It is puzzleing, I havent seen any problems since then. It does have me a little worried since I was not even doing anything near the tank when the lights started flickering, that coupled with my vortechs losing communication twice with the WMX has me a little worried. I have to check the firmware again. I bought the WMX used but I think I checked and upgraded everything when I installed it but I will check again.

THanks superray,

I actually have my return pump, my skimmer, and one vortech on a seperate outlet, that I turn on and off manually.

But my heaters, lights, the fans on the lights, my ato, and dosing pumps are all controlled byt he APEX, the bigges problem would be the heaters.

Hopefully I wont have any more problems and it was just a brown out or other fluke.
