I just got a neptune apex ( very overwhelming ) can I use the wireless router I run my laptops off of or does it need its own.

I tryed to read the manual but I dont under stand alot of the terms ( read it like 5 times ).

I would like to set it up from my computer and link it to my android phone right from the start.

You can use the router you're using now if you have a free LAN port, the Apex doesn't have wireless capability. If you need to connect wirelessly, you need something like an Ethernet bridge...

Im in the same boat. I thought it would just be A plug and play, was I ever wrong.I cant even get the aqua notes to work with the controller plugged into the computer. Im starting to think I should of left it in the store and be 500$ ahead.

I already have a wireless network for my house.
To connect my Apex wirelessly I purchased a Netgear wireless adapter, the WNCE2001. Small and works perfectly with my Netgear router.

first off set your apex to a static ip, that will make it easy to do the rest.

the cd that comes with your apex will find it for you, after that's its just setting the address so it doesn't change and opening the port on your router. fyi aquanotes is garbage. use the new apex program for your smartphone or use your computers browser.

thats the guide everyone uses. its easy to follow, if you have questions post them in the neptune Sponcer area. lots of help there.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but one question. Can I plug the apex into my arris touchstone telephone modem seeing there's A cat 5 cord there already.Or does it have to be plugged into the router?

It appears this only has 1 Ethernet jack. If the apex is plugged in here where is your computer plugged in?

I also have a similar question... Initially, can the apex be setup (online/phone/etc) using an Ethernet cable, or do you have to use a wireless connection? (we don't have a wirelesss router at the moment)
