I am in the third week of my new tank cycle. My ammonia has already gone to zero about a week and a half ago. I'm trying to track my nitrite levels now. The API test strips read over way over 10 ppm nitrite and nitrates. I want and got the test tube tester from API for both to get better readings. My nitrate still says 10, but nitrite is reading zero or near zero. Anyone ever had a discrepancy like that in nitrates with this tester? Or are my nitrates just too high that the test kit can't read it?

When Nitrites are present a lot time the nitrates will give a false reading due to the nitrite interference.

I see. your nitrites are reading different from the test strips Vs. the liquid test. I think I would be inclined to go with what the liquid test results show for the respective tests. Since your ammonia went to zero about a week and a half ago, it is possible your nitrites are very low or zero. Hope that helps.
