i have been running my aqua c ev 240 on my 90 gallon for about 3 days. I first started it up and in about 4 hours skimate was about half way up the tube then i came back an hour later and it had drop all the way back to the bottom and the skimate is gone. I am running it on a rio 2500. Is this pump not enough or is my water just too clean? the water level is just at the black box line where is says to have it. I also have the air valve all the way open. I also run a brs reactor with carbon and GFO and do weekly water changes.

That pump is WAY to small for that skimmer. At 0' head that pump is only 748gph. Aqua C suggests the MAG 7 (700gph at 0' head) for the EV-180. That would make the Rio 2500 more inline for use on the 180. On my EV-180 I use a RIO 20HF (1300+ gph at 0' head) to overdrive it and this makes it perform well. Aqua C recommends the MAG 12 for the 240 and the MAG 12 is a 1200 gph pump at 0' head. They recommend the MAG 18 (1800gph) to overdrive that skimmer. Also keep in mind that pumps with higher max head limits will also have higher PSI and this REALLY helps the Aqua C skimmers work best. That is why they suggest MAG drive and Eheim pumps as these pumps have higher PSI ratings then many other pumps.

Like he said... also make sure the skimmer is at the proper sump depth. The water level outside the skimmer should be right at the lower lip of the outlet port (if the gatevalve was removed).
