Aqua C Remora Pro Issue

So I bought the Aqua C Remora Pro with drain fitting and Mag 3 pump.

It's been running 2 days and is just overflowing through the drain. Besides moving the cup (I have it as high as it will go) I don't see another way of adjusting. Is this just a normal reaction until it is done with it's break in period?

The first night I had the drain going down to a gallon jug... woke up in the morning with about 5 gallons of water on the floor. Got my first overflow :)

I know just have the drain running back into the tank until this issue is resolved.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I would put a ball valve in the output side of the mag 3. This way can actually adjust the skimmer. These skimmers adjustabilty sucks! I ran mine with a ball valve as I described and after about 2 weeks I was able to run the valve full open. After that everything worked fine. Good luck.

Maybe I should get another pump then... I think cutting off the flow the pump is forcing might put a lot of strain on the pump

Either way.. thanks for your guys opinions!!

Just an update:

I contacted Remora and they're sending me out a valve that will attach to the output nozzle of my Mag 3.. they think it's putting out more than it should.

First time dealing with the company and they seem to have outstanding customer service!

I'll make an update once I get the valve

That is because they get enough practice fixing their remoras on a regular basis.

And yes I have owned one and I used a mag 5 on mine.

My wife dropped it one day moving it in the laundry room. She apologized and said she would buy me a new one. I told her no worries and that she saved me a trip to the drive way in order to run it over with my truck.

True story.

I do hope you get yours working and good luck.

Yea I went back and forth on it for awhile with the mixed reviews... either way it's already pulling more than my coralife did

Sometimes things work well and sometimes they don't. I have had lots of people tell me that rio pumps are garbage, but I've had a rio 3100 running for years and its fine. If it works, it works. Good luck to you.
