aqua lifter pump, seen one locally?

I've seen them at ART. Is there a specific thing you plan to use it for? I ask because they are pretty worthless for many applications.

I bought a pretty useless cpr style continuous syphon overflow box and when I opened it up and saw how it was actually designed I realized the major flaw and decided I need an aqualifter to be a little more safe. It's for somebody elses tank so after I get an aqualifter it's there problem if they wanna drill the tank or not.

I assume you are going to attach it to the apex of the U-Tube Syphon part of the overflow? You can always use a MaxiJet Powerhead hooked up with the air hose to it. When the powerhead turns on from a power outage, it will suck the air out of the U-Tube and into the aquarium.

a far better way to do that is to push the tube up inside the U tube to the top and glue it there (with glue at base). That way there is no chance of it ever bleeding air into the U tube, not will you have to make a hole in the U tube.

Paul.

BTW: Tim V is correct. i have trasehd all my aqualifetrs....(I think.....I will have a look and see if I have an old one)

Thank you Travis, I was just PMing somebody about a suggetion like that. This overflow doesn't have the u-tube, it's the CPR style overflow box. But same principle, I understand they don't hold a syphon very well and will have to have a pump sucking all the air out of the "c" section. I have never had a problem with my U-tube cutting off the syphon at all, and I turn the return on and off like three times a day for feeding the display. But this one was only 29.99 so I figured what the hay, I'll give it a try.

Will a powerhead sucking the air out of the "syphon" part and into the tank effect the ability of the box to syphon properly? After all the air is out and it's suckin water through it's still going to syphon like it should into the rear box right?
