Aqua Medic Nano Wave 9

I have one, I highly recommend it. Not only is the best looking 10 gallon and under but, it comes with a skimmer THAT WORKS! As well the stock lighting is great for a wide vareity of things! Itll handle 2 small fish + cleaner crew and its refugium (the middle chamber in back) can be stocked with at 5LBS or more of live rock so removal of the BIO-BALLS is perfect. I LOVE mine!!!! I upgraded the lighting, even though I didnt need to. The design is Top Quality!

If your arnt, a reef FREAK or Anal about what youre trying to do. This tank is absolute perfection for the nano side of reef and fish keeping. IMHO.

I have one and had it setup until today. Ended up tearing it down and moving the inhabitants over to an Aquapod 24. My opinion is that they are okay. I personally couldn't get the skimmer to work at all. Dan @ SC gave me a little adapter for the venturi portion of the skimmer and it helped some, but still pulled mostly clear water for me. I ended up just turning it off. Everything else about it I had no complaints. Definitely plenty of lighting and I have to agree with Jocool - by far the sharpest looking <10 gallon tank out there. Dan has a really good price on them too for $139! Last time I was in there he mentioned taking them off that sale price, so if you are interested in getting one I wouldn't wait too long or if you are interested in a very gently used one PM me :) I only had mine setup for about 1 month.

It basicly looks like every other Nano Cube. I dont think the refugium is really
needed on a 9 gallon tank. Like Robert Fenner (Conscientious Marine Aquarist and
wetwebmedia.com) was saying in a thread on his site. What happens with a refugium
on a system that small..is that in the long run the refugium ends up competing with
the main system. Plus in a tank that small your live rock and live sand provide
enough filtration that a fuge is not needed. I think its overkill on such a small tank,
I feel the same about the protein skimmer too. Will it make a difference maybe..
maybe not...is it necessary...I say no...The lighting in those are nice though.

I picked up two really nice 12 gal Nano Cubes brand new off of ebay for $60 each.
They were from some company called Aquarium Masters. I think the company
makes them for educational purposes and schools. Basicly looks exactly like the Bio
Cube. Except the lighting completely sucked! So Im redoing the lighting. One of
them Im doing all high powered LED setup. The other one Im putting a mix of LEDs
and PC's..

I have to take issue! The visual of this tank is not as PLASTIC and cheap as bio cubes are! Its a very sleak and refined look. My tank is a powerhouse. The idea of competeing is ridiculous IMHO, the refuge with a max of 6 LBS of small rock and rubble cannot compete with over 25 LBS of live rock, and at nightthe main tank is dormant and during the day the refuge is dormant. They both work in conjunction with each other.]http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s252/jmpsl/th_fish7.jpg[/IMG]

Well obviously you know more then Robert Fenner. The man has only been a 30
year Marine Biologist, Pro Scuba Diver, Advisor to countless Public Aquariums and
wrote the Book that most serious Saltwater Hobbiest call The Bible of the Saltwater
Hobby..."The Conscientious Marine Aquarist"..

Yep your tank is one in a million...No other Bio cube on the Planet looks like
it.(rolling my eyes)...

By the way a little live rock rubble does not constitute a full blown refugium. I
think the point was that in such a small tank..where your Live Rock and Live Sand
your main Filtration....a fuge is not needed...also I think what robert fenner was
trying to say was that with full blown refugium on such a small system...the fuge
will start to compete of trace elements...and additives. You have a little live rock
rubble in your filter chamber...thats not a fuge as far as I see it.

Your tank has no plastic on it...hmmmm..

What are the braces all around it made of? What is the lid made out of? My 12
gallon Nanos are made of curved glass and are just as sleek..plus taller and wider
too. 14 x 12 x 17

By the way...When did Acrylic become cheap plastic???? incase you were talking
about the Bio Cube tanks themselves.

take care....

long have you been in this hobby 5 months? and whats wrong with Acrylic? Besides mine

Ok, TEX first off slow down.

Anyone visiting a lFS can see the Bio Cube in Action. There are very few Nano wave 9 on display in any LFS.

IMHO, I think the Bio cubes are visually lacking. Yeah, they are all similar but, the Nano wave 9 is a better looking tank the plastic is black, not Greyish like the Bio cubes, and its detail is more refined. It's my opinion. Oh BTW, the Nano is made of GLASS! =)

I do agree with you on the fact that it is nice to have something that not
everybody has...Thats what I like about my 12 gal nanos. Ive never seen mine
before. But like I said the company that makes them sells for education purposes
and to schools only.

I didnt say your tank wasnt nice. Just thought the fuge and the skimmer on 9gal
was slight overkill. But it is a sleek tank. Who makes that nano? where is the
company out of...U.S??

I will post pics of mine at some point too..

take care..
