AquaC Remora with Drain Questions

I currently have a 55g with about 90lbs of LR and nothing else in the tank. My last Nitrite reading was .05. So I think the tank if ready for livestock but I have a couple questions regarding the skimmer. It is basically the only filtration I have right now. I am planing on getting a sump later. Still recouping from the large sums of cash I've dumped in this new hobby already.

What am I looking for when adjusting the skimmer?

The manual describes adjusting for more dry bubbles or more wet bubbles. I currently have it adjusted to where only dry bubbles reach the collection cup. This is mainly due to a flooding incedent involving the drain tube. But the bubbles periodically do not rise high enough to disperse the dry bubbles in the cup. I've been chalking this up to the water becoming cleaner, but I want check and make sure that I should not be adjusting the skimmer cup to collect at all times.

I purchased a AquaC Remora HOB skimmer with a drain. Where should I run the drain tube?

Currently I have the tube running into a 5g bucket which I empty every week. Is the purpose of the dump tube so that it automatically empties itself? Not much solid waste has been in the collection cup when I check it. So I simply tilt it every day to force the liquid down the tube.

Some people have it drained into a jub or 2 L bottle. Along with that the collection cup tower needs to be cleaned every third day to maximize efficiency.

This is my set up on my fish only with a Remora.

it works well.

Just be careful initially. My first remora-pro would put out a wet froth, even with the cup as high as it would go. It would fill a gallon can in about 15 minutes.

Until you know how well it will run, I would just put about 4" of tube on the drain fitting and have it point straight up, higher than the top of the cup. This will make it work like a non-drain version and once the cup is filled.... nothing more will go into it.
