I had put away an AquaClear 50 that I wasn't using. Decided to use it as extra filtration on my reef tank, and a funny thing happened. I hung it on the tank, filled the filter with water, and it worked fine. I then decided to make adjustments to the basket that it comes with, so I took the filter down and sat it in my sink for a few minutes. I made necessary adjustments to the media basket, put it all together, hung it on the tank, and now it's not working whatsoever. I have searched on Google and forums and the only suggestion I found was to give the impeller fan a little nudge. This has not worked for me. I highly doubt the impeller is burned out since I used it for about 2 months prior to putting it away for storage. Sorry for the long-winded explanation.
Anyone have any ideas?
Does it matter which way I have the impeller fan positioned? See attached picture.
Also, am I able to fully submerge just the impeller? I have been reattaching it to the HOB every time to test it out. It's getting old fast...
