fish and coral

I have exhausted google and you tube trying to figure this one out. Last week the skimmer was working great. Nice Dark green color and very slowly filling up. Today it fills up quicker than I can dump it. I have tried the following :

Raised cup to highest position

cleaned all intakes etc

tried raising the actual skimmer higher

The only thing different that I can think of that was done was a little epoxy to glue a coral this morning.

Although this model has an overflow system that dumps it back into the container, I am considering turning it off at night and while at work to prevent any accident.

Solutions I read was turning the drain left or right so half of it is out the water.....I can not figure out which drain this is.

Pinching the tube just shuts the whole system down.

Any ideas? solutions? thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all

A couple of things...

This skimmer does take awhile to break in fully. I suggest letting it run for a couple of hours in a bucket with some water and vinegar. That will clean off all of the excess oil etc...

Mine did over fill on occasion when I first got it. I found it best to run some tubing from the skimmer cup to a 5 gallon bucket on the floor. Let it run for a bit and skim off whatever is making it go crazy.

I used to have one and glue made it go nuts. What I did was, let it run as normal, but hook a hose up to the overflow tube and run that into a bucket. I let it dump about 2gal of water, turned it off, let the tank run for a couple days with carbon in the filter, and then started it back up.

just removed all epoxy and did about a 40% water change and changed the filter. I'm going to run the skimmer couple hours a day. Afraid to leave It on constant. Over flooded onto the floor the other day

The collection cup should have a drain that allows it to overflow into the body of the skimmer, I extended the fitting with a tube to make sure the overflow went where it was supposed to.
But it takes weeks sometimes after a chemical dosage such a as epoxy or chemi--clean.

the issues lies actually at the top of the collection cup. The over flowing water is put back trough the drain but the bubbles just bubble up trough the top moving the top and come out.

I have noticed it would over flow instantly before, now it atleast takes 2 minutes. I guess some improvement
