Aquarium Background

What is everyone using as their aquarium background? I bought a black background from the LFS and can't seem to get the effect that I see in pictures here. The background I bought gives a reflection of the rock and just makes the aquarium seem smaller.

Any other alternatives? The tank is already setup and is against the wall, so I would have to drain out half the water, move the tank ect...

Worth a try I dont think it would hurt since the reflection is most likley coming form the laminet anyway.

I used a water color style contact paper, put two sided tape around the edge.

I used the weather stripping style tape very strong.

I've heard that if you smear petroleum jelly on the background, then slide it onto your tank it 1. won't get salt creep behind it, and 2. won't reflect as much. I just stack a bunch of rock in there, and you can't really see the back.

I use the store bought stuff. but instead of tape I use a dishwashing soap and water soution and wet the backing applt to tank and work out the air bubbles. Works great for me.

maybe some black formicah, cut to size would work, you could slide it in from the side?

Thats what I have on my tank, hard to keep it tight to the tank and any little spill that gets between the tank and panel leaves white streaks

In the upper lefthand corner in a roller made to paint behind toilet tanks. Works if you have about 2 to3 inches.
