ya u can use the port xpander along with I2C to have several display.. i have done that so not a problem.

Well getting info from calcium monitor, not sure on that. may be some experts can comment on that.
 
You can accomplish almost anything (reef related) with an Arduino.
Need two pH readings - sure, build two pH interfaces and program a decision. This is the best part of using this approach - customization !!!
For this you need hardware + software knowledge.

PS. Have not seen yet a report about a stable pH interface. Some succeeded some not. Mine is not that stable (non linear response) and I don't have time to debug it.

I know I am reviving a very old thread but can you do into more detail on the power module? Can you give a schematic for the relay controller on one of your modules?
