I'm in process of making new home for tasseled filefish - 90g tank. From previous experience, I would like to leave as much free swimming and maneuvering space as possible, so there will be not much of a live rock.
On the other hand, filefishes like places to hide, blend with environment (with easy exit), or just hide from the light, in upper layer of the tank. What kind of cliff/ overhang can be made on the top of the tank, that will be sufficient for hiding and will not block too much access to the surface? Pictures or links, if possible.
Now he is hiding his head between hang-on equipment for the rest, and feeling more freely (sp?) after even low lighting is off.
Also, what kind of vertical surface can be used for attaching macroalgae - I plan a lot of it - again without restricting too much swimming space. How to attach macroalgae? What in-tank macroalgae they are eating?
Only once I had seen high FW tank with wall of java moss, tied to the bamboo sticks - resonable and nice. May be eggcrate for saltwater?
Tank is planned to be bare bottom, 2-3 fishes at most (fuzzy, smaller volitan lion and small valentini puffer, if he continue behaves good). Caves for a lion and puffer, of course too.
Any ideas or experiences?
