HELP ME WITH THIS FIASCO.
I want to move to reef really soon (currently only 1 Turbo Snail, 1 Emerald Crab, 1 Ocellaris Clownfish). Any ideas/suggestions? Do I crush up some rocks, fill up the holes and just go with a small two island setup? I'm finding it hard to maintain and siphon the tank.

The 3rd picture looks like a perfect scape as it is. If you are planning a reef tank, I suggest less rock and which leaves more room for coral. It took me a long time to realize that, but my current tank has much much less rock than I've ever had before. I know once the corals grow out, itll look full. I like 3rd picture a lot as a good start to a reef tank. 4th pic looks too much like the classic "fruit stand" type aquascape.

I agree with the above post. But, is that an edge tank? If so then, and you plan coral then I think you have to much rock. I would pull the front rocks on both ends. Go very minimal.

So I should forget the 1-2LB of rock/per gallon rule and just kind of put in as much as I need? Yes this is a 6 gallon edge tank. I have like 7 LB of Pukani rock and its very porous. I'm going to the store tomorrow to pick up some putty and chemipure.

I would use the rock you have to create a nice scape. With how ever much you want. For that tank I would be looking for something in the 4lb range. Plus you could always add an extra piece in the filter if you really need it.

I'm thinking of an arch or something. Maybe an island? I really want to maximize sand space. Maybe a two sides with low rock and then something tall in the middle? I honestly dont know lol.

the third pic has my vote as well, it looks good in my opinion. if you want to change the aquascape around some remember you dont have to get rid of whole rocks, you can also break them ito smaller rocks if you want them just a bit farther from the glass.

A lot lower. How does this look? Not enough rock? I'm planning on replacing the filter media w/ floss and chemipure elite.

Scape looks good to me. Has a lot of open space. Room for some coral. Not packed and cluttered looking. I give it a thumbs up!

hope those weren't your cars in the drive way. how old is this tank? and how do you like that Cobalt heater? I was looking at that for my tank.

I like the new scape a lot. I think it may look like not enough right now, but you will be happy once corals are in and growing

No, thankfully they weren't. The cobalt is a really nice heater. It's pretty slick and I like the way it displays the temperature of the tank if it rises/drops for some reason. I haven't had any problems at all. I actually purchased the 50W version which is rated for up to 12 gallons, they have a 25W version for up to 6 gallon tanks. Over all I'm happy with it no problems and I've been using it for water changes.

So this is the current aquascape after the sand change and I can deal with it not too crazy about it but it's ok. I was wondering if corals can be easily attached and if it is the ideal scape. There isn't really much flat area and just ridges.
