Are the top and bottom brace the same or is the bottom brace different?

Is the bottom piece of glass "floating" or are all the side pieces sitting on top of the bottom piece?

My friend seems to think that the side pieces go all the way to the bottom and the bottom piece is sitting about an inch higher than the side pieces therefore floating.

Are all of the pieces the same thickness or do they use thicker glass on the bottom?

the braces are the same top and bottom

the side pieces do sit on the bottom plate, but it is still a floating bottom because the trim keeps the glass elevated.

Do I need thicker glass or tempered glass on the bottom? I have all 1/2" glass.

my buddy bought an AGA 210 with a broken bottom(non tempered 1/2"), and replaced it with 3/8" tempered and it worked great.
