Are marineland tanks safe??

I'm thinking of upgrading to a 180 gallon or a 200 DD. And I'm not sure if I want to go with a marineland. Every cusTom tank maker you talk to wont make a tank any thinner than 3/4" or 5/8"

Any reason why marineland gets away with 1/2"? I want to buy one and drill it if I can

Get Marineland to drill/customize the tank for you. That way you maintain their warranty.

Bummer. Do thy still insist on you using their stands to maintain their tank warranty, too?

Yes... UNLESS the plans are designed by a manufacturer and you build it and send pictures of it and wait for approval.

Are there other manufacturers that don't have the brutal overflows?

Talk to Miracles in Barrie, Ont. They can build you just about anything you care to name.

I know Derek very well and have purchased 2 tanks from him in the last 2 years. My 200 and my 120. I'm just wondering if there's a more affordable way to go this time around. Derek is kind of my trump card. I know I wouldnt. be let down if I go with them but I'm just not financially geared to go with a totally custom build right now. I'm even considering used

I have 1/2 inch glass on my 220XH,Cornerflow Marineland aquarium.I am certain that is the minimum thickness allowable.I wish it was a little thicker. The 180 gallon Marineland aquarium I had prior had a stress crack in the glass and they replaced it under warranty. That was 1/2" glass too.It would add to the cost of the aquarium for thicker glass and I figure it would make them a less competitive company if they charged more money..

I have had up to 36" tall tanks in 1/2" Starphire glass, but with euro-bracing top and bottom.
