Are the Hydor Koralia Evolution as good as the normal koralia

I have two 1400s and I have no complaints. I got both for around $100, they have a smaller footprint then the originals and they use about 6 watts each. I do agree with Oscar about the flow compared to the originals but they both have pros and cons.

I have had both. The new gen 1450 I have in my fuge stopped out of nowhere. Had to take it apart and all is well for now. The older model does have a wider flow which I think is better. BUT if you are shopping I’d get a Tunze hands down.

I have also used both. I used to run four of the 3's in my 90 gallon, but switched over to four of the Evos last year.

The Evos are significantly smaller in size and use less power. There was a problem with them reversing suddenly (I came home one day to find all 4 of the Evos sucking from the front and blowing out the sides). That was a very common problem with them, and Koralia sent out free parts that would fix the problem. I think they have probably fixed that on the ones being made now, though.

one of the main problems is the front cover was not rigid enough to take the sudden jolt of flow pressure. I have four in my tank and i came home to see them spinning backward. When i removed them from the tank i noticed that the front grill was cracked. emailed them and they hooked me up with new covers
