Let's turn your passion into a job. FISH and other ICHTHY stuff of Oldsmar, Florida is accepting applications. We are not hiring to fill a position; we are hiring to fulfill your passion. If you, not only understand the nitrogen cycle, but can explain it to others, if you perceive ornamental fish as pets and not decorations, if you are able to take responsibility for their wellbeing - including compatibility as well as environmental stresses, and if you have the people skills to listen, talk with, and explain these issues to novice and advanced aquarists alike, IF YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO UNLEARN WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED - then you may have a job waiting for you here. We are looking for somebody with a continued passion for this hobby. Somebody that is truly interested in staying on top of this ever-changing hobby. We are looking for honesty- you don't have to know everything about every species available, but you do have to know where to find the info in the literature that we provide, and have the intellectual curiosity and integrity to use it. We need a competent, responsible, people-friendly, adaptive, passionate hobbyist who will take this position seriously. If these requirements are met, this job is fun, enjoyable and light hearted.
Upon applying you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire pertaining to the marine aquarium hobby so that we know where you stand on each topic. You are expected to understand basic husbandry upon hiring.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Recognizing and identifying diseases or incompatibilities.
Being able to explain the requirements of setting up a tank to a beginner, in a language that they can understand
Completing the duties with the same care as you would if these were your own tanks/ animals
The ability to adaptive and prioritize tasks
Basic computer skills
Must have dependable transportation
