Originally posted by familyreefer I am thinking about putting a ASM G4 on my 220 gallon reef. The Sump holds about 35 gallons . Would this skimmer be sufficient? Thanks, Scott
The G4 will cost you $400. For $420 you can get an ER RS-180, that draws twice as much air, is significantly better built, and uses much less electricity.
Or, if money is an issue, you can buy a Reef Octopus NW200, which will, again, outperform a G4, draws more air, is better built, and costs $200. Same deal with an Aquaeuro recirc 265.
Stay away from ASM. Their prices have gone up while everyone elses price has gone down. Their performance has stayed the same while everyone elses has improved.
I had a g4+ ( sedra 9000 ) with all the mods to maximize it's performance. recirc mod, gate valve mod, and most importantly the mesh nw mod. Even then, I wouldn't be real comfortable on a 220g heavily stocked fish/SPS tank where low nutrients are desired.
