asm pump's vs ER pump's

I have a 90g & went with a ASM G3 & the pump has always been on the noisy side, very annoying actually!

So today I hooked up my new ER SP4 pumps to my 12-2 & converted it to a RC skimmer & the difference between the pumps is quite large! I barely hear the SP4 pumps (2 of them) running & they are out of the water vs the G3 pump (1) which I can hear 20 feet away & is totally submerged in the sump.

just thought I would share... it seems like you do get what you pay for

IMHO, if you can hear the pump on a G3, you have a bad pump.
Every ASM skimmer I have seen in operation has been totally silent.

I agree. I've had three ER's 6-3,8-2,12-1. One ASM G-3. All the pumps sounded the same.

thanks for the info! I have also been talking about this on a local site & they feel the same, the pump should be silent so I am going back to asmskimmers (they are 5 minutes from my house) & see what they have to say.
