Assuming this is corraline, but just checking!

My 29g Biocube will have been set up for 3 weeks on Saturday (that's when the live rock went in). Other than the diatom bloom that the snails made quick work of, and a few stray diatoms since then, all seems to be going very well.

Now my rocks are turning lime green but there's no fuzz and the snails can't seem to make a dent in it. It doesn't come off with a toothbrush either. I have little to no algae on the glass. So I'm assuming this is coralline already, but just checking (some of my snails were completely encrusted in purple, red, white, and green). The snail in the first pic was not green when he arrived 3 weeks ago!

Stark contrast between the new rock that was put there a couple of days ago, and a rock that's been there from the start:

I have a bunch of "Real Reef" rock and other than where the purple paint chipped off and some misc. dead stuff (sponges, tube worms) the green is not touching them yet.

Thanks!

The green stuff looks a lot more like algae to me.

Wouldn't the snails (astraea, turbo, and margarita have all had a shot) be able to remove it, though, and wouldn't it scrub off with a toothbrush? This stuff doesn't budge.

Addit: Can't believe I misspelled coralline. It was pre-coffee, I swear!

Looks like coralline to me. I do have a question, your tank has only been setup for under 3 weeks? Has it gone thru its cycle yet? Cause if it hasnt the frags of coral I see in the pictures are not going to be happy going thru any phase of the cycle.

Yes, my tank is cycled - I had virtually no cycle (used 30# of cured LR that was only in transport for 45mins) and have been monitoring water parameters almost daily just because I'm obsessive. It was my LFS/coral store that tested my water the first time before I got a kit and gave me the thumbs up on livestock, just said to hold off on coral (that was almost 3 weeks ago) because of phosphate. My phosphate is almost 0 now from .14. I didn't plan on adding coral yet but had these gifted to me at a swap. Thank you for checking though, with a new tank you never know. :)

I have the red coraline all over my rocks. Ive never seen green but they say it comes in all colors.

That red coralline was on most of the rocks when I got them; it's cool, because it's some kind of plating coralline, very raised and bumpy and brainlike. That white rock in the second photo got moved there instead of removed because I wanted to make more space on the bottom of the tank but didn't want to lose the red stuff (or the mini brittle stars living in it). Not the best place, but flipped over like that it makes a nice shelf. The (now) bottom side was also covered in green.

Addit: Just found my first spot of purple coralline on the glass. I expected it to take a couple of months to start, not 3 weeks!
