Atlantic Tropicals

Ok, I dropped by the store with a buddy last night and here is what I have to report about the place. The store has been cleaned up a great deal since the last time I was there which was about a year ago. They are stocking a lot more reef related stuff. I was semi impress with the huge reef tank they have in front of the store. It could have been setup a bit more efficient but overall itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s a good looking setup. I think the tank was 8x2x4tall 480gal? Also in the back they are in the process of setting up a 300gal sps reef running 4x400MH and PC actinic. Also was a nice looking setup but again could be a bit more efficient. The owners confess that they donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t know much about reefing but from the questions they were asking me they seems to be willing to learn. I asked for prices on some of the corals and got a fair quote but didnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t buy anything since Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢m more of an zoo/sps guy. The owner also told me that they are planning on cleaning up the place a lot more, which is good to hear.

The reason why I was there was to help my friend pick up a 180 he ordered from them last week. Its 6x2x2 viso with two holes for overflow and return. He got it for $365 out the door, the next best price quote he got was $450. They did not pressure him to buy any stand or tanks or anything else for that price. I also ask them prices on a 1000gal tank and was very please with the quote they gave me.

As far as those ads and price list they have I did not bother to ask them about that but I will next time Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢m there. I believe that if they get some good guidance from us reefers they "could" be a good store. If anyone had any suggestions for any changes they could make they seem to be very willing ot hear it.

Basically they need someone to go over there to set them straight.

I ask them if they just bought the store and they said they have bought it over a year ago. So all those ads and price list are theirs. I'll let them know next time I'm there that what they are doing is giving them a real bad rep and they should change their advertising tactics to a more ethical method.

BTW I said they cleaned up a great deal but they are still way below par. Best thing to do is to perhaps rebuild completely but we all know thatââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s not going to happen.

I just ordered a 180 acrylic from them last week paid $699 for the tank overflows and black back total came out to $1060 i thought it was a great deal the closest i found was 1,400. anyways hope they do a good job on it i guess we'll just wait and see. got a idomized reciept from them he didnt seem shade to me. they also had cheap fish for sale $6.99 for a six line wrasse. cant beat that.
will report back after i get my tank.

Went there about a month ago and the store was a dump. From their adds I was expecting to see a warehouse full of tanks. All I saw was a tiny shop and that big display tank upfront, smallest SW section with like 5 fish. Waste of a trip!

Before I visited I called the number from craigslist and asked if they had a showroom. The guy answered in a sarcastic tone "It shows the address on the add doesn't it?"

just went to this place. Their fishes are really bad (ich) BUT they had some nice softies for really cheap.
I did pick up some corals for good prices and a nano tang (crossing my fingers on this one, but the price was good).
For corals, i would recommend, for fish proboly not. Just ask for Eric, all the other employees are no good.

Picked up my 180 tank from them last friday. Got exactly what i wanted. Cant beat the prices too. They also had great prices on JBJ Chillers and 400 watts halides kits.

He had 1/3 jbj chiller for $699 come on its 800 something everywhere else even online. I was very satisfied with the tank and equipment i got from them.

Yes, some items you can get a great deal on. Just talk to Eric and be extremely careful on the livestock. I know they had a great deal on the chillers. It looks like they are learning as they progress.
