Ato not working properly

I have a Tunze 3152 auto top off unit that I just purchased. It ran fine for a week and now it keeps shutting off until I unplug the power source. Once it is plugged back in it will run fine for 12 to 18 hours and then it shuts off again.

It's topping off for a 25 lagoon, I have a 5 gallon bucket will ro water that the pump sits in. The last few days it's been running in the morning when I leave for work but when I get home the water level has dropped below the switch. I unplug the unit and plug it back in, after that it fills the return and tops off the rest of the night and the next morning without issue.

I have contacted Tunze customer service but I wasn't sure if anyone else had had a similar issue.

Thanks,

I've never used the nano version, but the standard version is usually really solid. You might have gotten a bum unit, or check to make sure your head height is within acceptable range - the nano unit automatically shuts off the pump after 5 minutes if the level isn't reached, which may be causing problems if the sensor gets stuck, or the pump is not pumping water for some reason but is still on. This would explain why you need to "reset" things by powering unplugging/plugging back on the unit. Hard to really tell what is going on without photos or more detail about your ATO setup...

Go into the Tunze Sponsor Forum and ask them about it. they have a rep in there who consistently answers questions.

Make sure the sensor is clean and nothing is causing the float to hang up. Also make sure it's mounted good and level, if it's cockeyed, the float might stick. Check your pump to make sure it didn't pick up a rock or some sand, that could cause it to stall.

Entacmaea makes a good point as well, if it runs too long, it will shut down so as not to overflow your tank. If it does this, it should sit there and "pulse" every minute or so, it's just a subtle bump so you'll need to be listening for it in a quiet room.
