ATO question

So I answered my own question by doing some actual research :)

Now my question is which is best. I was looking at the JBJ auto top off but then saw that AutoAqua line of ATO's and thought that might be a better option. Especially the Auto Aqua Smart ATO Micro. Does anyone use this one?

Well...I really wanted to get away from a regular float switch...so I pulled the trigger on the AutoAqua Smart ATO Micro. I will definitely give my review on it once I have it running. I won't get my system up until after December 8th thanks to stupid Military duty...

I have always used a gravity fed system. 7 gal container currently right above the sump. Simple airline hose from the bottom of the ATO container to a float valve in the sump. To make it easier to start a syphon I cut that line and added a 3 way valve so I can crate suction if the container ever runs dry.

1 point of potential failure compared to 100s in a traditional ATO. Even if the float valve were to fail it's only 10 gal dumped into the system. The float valve has yet to fail me and I have been using the same one for 10+ years.

No sump on this system. It's an AIO.

I use a JbJ ato system on my 90g. It's ok, not great. The float valves are pretty prone to not functioning correct. I have to really make an effort to keep the one in my sump working. It works enough that I'll go as far as saying its worth the money; however it wouldn't hurt to go with another brand.
