ATS and skimmer?

I recently purchased a used 120gallon set up and it came with a very nice ATS enclosure. I've read a little about the benefits of a turf scrubber, but I wasn't sure if running a skimmer would make a turf inefficient.

I was wondering if there are any benefits or drawbacks on running my current skimmer (vertex in180) in conjunction with the ATS on my reef.

i think from what i've read, running the ATS makes the skimmer needs a bit less, sorta like making the skimmer more inefficient. Some people have had their skimmers skim less hours instead of 24/7
