that should be fine. I usually use thread and wrap it tight enough to hold on to a rubble rock.

Can someone tell me how you can sew it to rock? You don't actuallu puncture the xenia do you? How do you get thru the rock?
I saw this somewhere else and really don't get how you do it if you can't move the rock you want it on.
I am picking mine up on Saturday and want to know how to attach it to the unmovable rock.

I've fragged my xenia many times and have never lost one (knock on wood). I cut the stalk horizontaly at the base then take a toothe pick and run it through the base. I then rubber band the toothpick to a flat rock. I'm pretty new at fragging but it's worked for me hope it helps.

Cut the base off cleanly and poke a toothpick through it about a 3/8" or 1/4" from the bottom it doesn't really matter and the rocks I cut the xenia off of grow too

Xenia will attach very quickly after being sewed to a rock.
You take a needle and thin fishing line and stick it through the base of the cutting then wrap the ends around the base of the rock and tie a knot on the bottom of the rock
Small irregular rocks work the best because it prevents the fishing line from slipping off.
The cuttings will attach in a matter of a few days.

I use fishing line to attach my xenia. All you need to do is just tie it down to a piece of rock. You don't need to "sew" it or anything intricate like that, just tie the fishing line about half way up its shrivled stalk to make sure you get a good hold, tie it down and put it in your tank where there is a low flow area so it has a chance to attach. In a day or so it will attach and you will be good. No need to remove the fishing line afterward. The coral will grow around it.
Just a few suggestions. Use a new clean and sharp razor blade. Try to make as clean of a cut as possible, and I always dose my tank with iodine after. Iodine helps corals heal.
