Any Reef Clubs in this area? Maybe someone can tell me how to start one? Or give me links or some other info on how to start a Reef club?

We're starting one here in Montgomery, but I'm not aware of one in Auburn/Opelika. A few years ago there were some fairly active folks over there, but I think many have graduated or moved on.

Judging from the number of people that come into Petco's fish dept. looking for corals, there still is a fairly good number of people that are actively keeping or thinking of starting a reef tank. Maybe I can come check out a Montgomery meeting and get some ideas? We're also thinking of asking Petco if they'll kinda semi-sponsor a reef club, although that's not really the kind of demigraphic they're going for. Their marketing more towards the beginners and intermediate hobbyist. We're gonna see if they'll let us hold frag swaps and meetings at the store, and maybe give away door prizes once in a while. Which will probably be coupons or something.

I'm firming up times for the next Montgomery meeting. Looks like Dec 14th (Sunday) is the better day for most. We'd love to have you out:).

Sweet. My brother's coming to visit that weekend from NC, he's thinking of starting a reef tank too. Can I bring him and my wife?

I'm living in Auburn right now.

I don't think I'd buy another fish from Pet-Co in Opelika if it was the only place left in alabama... I bought a small naso for $40, acclimated it to my tank slooowly and it was in by 6pm. I woke up the next morning at 7am and it was dead... 13 hours? gimme a break.

There's a reason why folks call it "DeathCo".

I used to stop in the one here on occasion and once got a nice purple tang for $50, but when the company got busted for improper storage of dry dog and cat food, I wrote them off.
