LFS, just recieved a very small chunk and will frag it into 2inch frags.

Question - what is the going rate? LFS has not priced them yet.

Thanks

I would be careful fraggin that thing as a frag. Its extremely delicate. I received 3 frags one at a time and they all died in a week, they suddenly got RTN. Its the only coral I've ever received that went through this 3 times.

Not only that, but the last frag I received was placed in my friend's zeovit tank of the trimester and it was doing fine and 1 week later he called me and said, dude! your frag is peeling off and I don't even know why.

I called the people who sold it to me here in Mexico which have a colony bought in the USA and they said other people who received the frags also had them peeling off and there were only 2 people able to keep the frag alive and they lived half an hour from the store, so basically this thing is so delicate that it doesn't resist much shipping stress.

They told me it prefers colder water and very high light. So don't frag it just yet. It could peel off in a week, so just give it about a month to make sure.

Thanks, I will keep an eye on it. I have not purchased it yet. But, I am first inline for a frag.

I guess I will wait and see

+1

I had a whole colony start to RTN on me and was able to save it. It has taken nearly 2 months but it is encrusting now and starting to get back to the way it should look.

This is what half of the piece looked like when I bought it

hmmm...I bought a 1.5" frag awhile back from Hugo and it's doing fine, the frag is encrusting like crazy, and the color is coming back. Didn't have any STN.

Mine

And for 1/2 the price I got this - yet to get a good picture, but green/redish with pink and white polyps.

Uniquecorals just posted in their rc thread that now they are 79.99 on sale. Wish i had some cash :(

Nice coral. I was just down there a week ago. How'd I miss that? Actually I know how...the store is friggin full of sweet stuff. Top Notch place.

colonies are $120 to $200 for this up north - that being said they are small colonies.

Jay wanted $150 for a 1" frag of his colony (it looked amazing when I was in there though)...too rich for my blood. If I could find a small healthy colony for $120...now that would be tempting.

they are colonies coming in from australia. imho nothing special. wholesale maybe $30 - $50? And a lot of those newly introduced are very delicate and can die easily. i mean come on, its not that nice

Correct these are australian SPS; wholoesale price has nothing to do with resale price (if it is a nice coral); the last 3-4 years has shown australian SPS are very hardy, not VERY delicate; and nice is rather subjective. I have collected SPS for over 10 years and I bought one while currently downsizing from a 270G to a 50G, primarily becuase I think it is a unique, and becuase in my experience australian SPS are hardy. So it is all relative I supose.

Agreed - under the circumstances it is not a unique enough coral to pay that much for a 1" or under frag (well we can say that because we hat a lot of reef stores in Toronto). Colony on the other hand, ya.

Go see Tom - he got in quite a few pieces and has some small colonies that are coloring down now, you can easily get one for $120 (the asking price when I was there)

These are very delicate, I'm not buying again.

This is how it was when many "new" acros came into the hobby. Some of us will keep it thriving and the captive strands of this coral will become more tolerable of our aquarium conditions.
Fully colored up, this coral is a must have IMO.:hmm4::hmm4:

So thats what that was. our local LFS brought in a colony but wouldn't frag it right away. It ended up STN'ing and i took my chances on a piece but it RTN'd that night after being in my tank. The other one i took a chance on is still going and my favorite nub.

Always wondered what it was

Here's my frag, with and without flash. I have it under 10K hqi's in my frag tank and it is doing quite well. It had more of a greener tint to the body when i first got it, but under the 10k's is more yellow with the pink. Quite nice, IMO.
