Australian Sea Apples

I have set up a new Oceanic 120 Tech tank and I would like some imput on the Australian sea apples. I have one in my nano cube and everything works with it, but I might have just got lucky. Are they recommended in reef tanks?

they need to be fed live phyto to survive also they are able to inflate themselves to the size of a volleyball so a tank minumum of 20 gallons is needed for each sea apple. personally i would not keep one in a reef since if they get stressed they will realese poison that can kill the inhabitants of the tank.

In addition to toxicity issues, remember that they are mobile, and get to a good size. Even though they won't harm corals directly, they can do some re-landscaping in their travels.

I thought the toxin is only a potential threat to fish. I suppose if you had an invert only tank they wouldn't be a threat, aside from them knocking into things.

There were some unanswered questions in that thread, and one of them was if there were corals in there, or if it was FOWLR. Not being argumentative here, I just didn't see where he answered the question of what was in the tank when the Apple kicked. In my mind there's enough evidence out there that these things just shouldn't be offered for sale in the trade.
