Authentic New build thread

ordered my new tank from exotic Aquarium in Miami so I thought I'd start a thread on my new build As I am starting to gather equipment. my dimensions are 60x23x22 which gives me about 130 gallons in my display tank. My stand was ordered from Jovani at reef box aquarium and will be 38" tall which will give me a good viewing height and plenty of room under the tank for my equiptment. I learned the hard way with my present setup in that my reef octopus SO 2000 barely had enough room to remove the skimmer cup.

This is the list of equiptment purchased so far

trigger system tide line sump 36 which holds about 40 gallons and was set up just how I wanted it.silent operation on a herbie overflow as the drains are under the waterline, plenty of room in the next two chambers for the skimmer and reactor, nice return area, probe holder built in and four holes for 1/4 in tubing to run my doses and ato.and adjustable water level for the skimmer. The SRO 2000 runs in 6 in of water and without any available height my sump which I built out of a 20 gallon tank has very little volume

Nyos 160 protein skimmer.loved the way it looks and research has led me to believe it is the easiest to dial in

Next reef MR2 reactor ,great build quality and closing mechanism with key type top

Waveline DC 12000 return pump.after hearing Tony Vargas speaking and researching his build, I decided on a dc pump because of the energy savings and control. I went with the 12000 as I am going to run my reactor off the return and avoid the necessity of an extra pump.and if I ever upgrade again I can use the same pump.

Building an obsession ATO container and dosing reservoirs. Ben was at the recent frag swap , I had already ordered the ATO when I saw his dosing containers at the show. Great build quality and he incorporated float switches that connect to an apex to let you know the reservoir is low. Bought two at the show because they were discounted and I like immediate gratification.

Avast marine barrel tender. Ben is drilling the top of my ATO for this cool piece of equiptment. It will automatically fill my ATO when low. I have an automatic water change system in place with my RODI in my garage with a line to my tank. Keeping an eye on the ATO level will be a thing of past

I will post some pics to show the setup soon

Sump looks great. However, I have the mr1 reactor and the two filter pads almost always end up together and flow completely stops it comes to a crawl.

No refugium, never had one and space is limited.I could free up the space by placing my reactor behind the skimmer. Also by running a light under the tank I'd be asking for algae.thoughts?I believe trigger systems built the walls opaque to stop light from spilling over.

I dont think refugiums are necessary. Are they a nice way of exporting some waste and growing pods?, sure, but a overrated skimmer will export just as much. Pods also grow in tanks on LR.

My stand was delivered, thanks to Jovani at reef box for getting this done.it came out great! My requirements were as follows
1.plenty of room! I learned this the hard way no cross bracing on the top section to lose valuable space
2.wide doors in front for easy access,I have a 40 in unobstructed space for getting in and out
3.side door, I plan on building a false wall for my equiptment, like my apex etc,the door will allow me easy access.to my hidden wires

Excuse me sir you I know this thread is about your tank but I can tell you have a Z3 m series by the grills can you please post a pic of the car lmao love BMW

Back to the tank, after moving my old tank my carpet underneath was ruined and smelled of mold.so I had it removed and put down 22x22 porcelain tile.the slab was not level but the tile is! Moving the new stand in place today, tank is suppose to be delivered tomorrow!

tank arrived!!!!although bob had a hydraulic lift, turning the corner into the room required placing it on end and shimmying it into the room to be placed on the lift and transferring it to the stand.my stand was built with a 1" lip so we placed wood under the glass first then lifted the tank to remove.
