Auto Top Off Recommendations

Hoping to get some recommendations for an auto-top off unit that's reliable.

Also recommendations for any tanks or containers for a reservoir? Thinking 5-10 gallons. It'll be going in my living room so would like to hide it with some cabinetry or furniture.

Thanks!

Aquavitro salinity bucket makes a decent sized ato reservoir. Apex atk, tunze, and ice cap decent ato.

i personally using a Apex ATK and a Icecap ATO in my two tanks

Go with Tunze Osmolator Nano. I used it for 2 years and no problem at all.

DON'T buy Innovative Marine HydroFill. That product is not reliable and their customer service department sucks.

The full sized tunze ATO is the best imo. Has a emergency float switch in case the unit fails and keeps pumping on water. I know it's double the price of the nano, but far superior.

And for reservoir, I use a 5G water jug you can buy at winco for $6.

I have to say I really like the AquaMedic I got from MD, Has a solid optical sensor mount. I just couldn't trust a magnetic not to slip/slide someday. Has over fill cut off and low reservoir run dry warning beep.Price was middle of the road,Less than some, More than some.

I like the apex atk with the optical and mechanical floay

If you already have a controller, then adding float switches is the way to go. You can program the controller to turn off the skimmer if water reaches the upper switch. This will prevent your skimmer cup contents from overflowing back into your sump. Position the upper switch at the top edge of the return section baffle. I don't think any of the stand alone ATO can do that.

The atk can

in stand alone mode?

the fixed distance between low and high optical sensor may not work for everyone.
I set my low sensor really low, and the high sensor at the edge of the return section baffle.

You can remove the high sensor and mount it higher. I like the optical sensor better than the floats getting stuck.

It's the calcium build up on the shaft not stuff getting stuck on it.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations. Very helpful. I decided to go with the Tunze. Their 3155 ato osomolator model.
