auto top off

I was wondering what auto top offs you guys are using? Are they gravity fed or are they fed with a pump, what are the pros and cons of each. I'm looking for one for my 350 gallon tank and was wondering which ones are the most reliable and less prone to failure. I think I want one with two floats for redundency. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

i did the auto top off kit you buy from the guys in the forums, im sure its something like autotopoff. co m but mine is pretty much fool proof.

I have a sump dedicated to top off water, of coarse its soaking in kalk so im killing two birds with one stone. I use a aqualifter to feed the sump with a dual float switch and have had not one issue in many years of use

Using the tunze osmolator here. It is a little more money but has a shut off for just about everything. ATO is definately one of the best purchases you can do for a tank and yourself. lol

Yea I was leaning towards the tunze osmolator myself. How far does the water level drop before it tops it off? Do you have any issues with air bubbles affecting the floats?

I highly recommend a dedicated bin to store ATO. Make it large enough so if it dumps all the water in your tank you won't loose livestock because of large salinity changes (I've seen it happen too many times to other people to risk it).
Did you look into a controller? I use Profilux but Apex and RKE have ATO as well as a lot of other functions that are handy with large tanks.
I've used JBJ and it works well. I've had and Elos but didn't like it for my large tank. I would only use the Elos for a small tank.

+1 I use a 20g kalk tub and if it did malfunction in my now 225-250g system i feel I would be safe.

never had a issue in my last tank with 130ish gallons TWV

On the osmolator as soon as the infared sensor isnt touching the water it will start up the pump. It keeps the water level very stable.

I use a 25 gallon rubbermaid tub(its placed in a wooden box to make it look nice) which will last a week on the 180.

Ill let you know how it works on the 360 here pretty soon.

I use the Tunze Osmolator on my 500G system. Works fine. I love the new magnets which hold the sensors to the sump sides... a great improvement over the old "hanger" method.

I use a 27G covered tub under the tank stand for my ATO RO/DI reservoir. When it gets low, I just turn a valve and the RO/DI filter will fill it.

I don't use the Tunze Calcium dispenser anymore, as I am using three part dosing for the tank...
