Working on a automatic water change system. Going to get the DOS for my APEX and a large container for my garage. My biggest question is how long is the salt water good for before it goes into the tank? I plan on having a mixing pump running most of the day and drain the entire tank in about 14 days.

I keep fresh seawater flowing for several weeks sometimes and have never had a problem as long as it circulates.

How big is your tank? I do 5 gallons per day with the DOS. I leave an mj1200 and heater in my 55g barrel . Ive never had a problem with water going "Bad" and I basically always have water because I never let the barrel get to empty.

Do you have a remote sump or is it under your tank ? You're probably going to want to set it up do do it when you're sleeping/at work. The DOS is LOUD when working. I have mine set up to work between midnight and noon so I dont hear it. I had it set up to work 24 hours but it was too loud,and thats with a remote sump in a fish room . I could still hear it on the other side of the wall.
Sump is under the tank but I have heard about the volume issue with the dos. Going to play with all sorts of timings and such to see what I like. There is noise and loud so need to hear it for myself. May have the dos in the garage with the water storage.

I also do a AWC with DOS. I had it set to change water all day but its now set between 12-4AM because of the noise. I keep SW mixed in a 55 Gallon barrel. I make more when the barrel is low enough to do a whole bag of IO so I never run out (unless I get lazy)

Ah. thats cool. I do 18,927ml from midnight to noon. 5 gallons.
