Awkward sized tank in a tight spot.

Ive found myself in quite a bind in my current flooring plans in my room, My Freshwater exotic fish (motoro stingrays x2 and jardini arowana) died after coming home from a vaca and combined poweroutage while gone. that tank is a 100G 72x18x17 that sits under my bed. its quite a sight to be honest. Ive switched that tank over to salt water and am keeping basics like 2 clowns, urchen, starfish and some crabs alive no problem. would like to keep some coral but nothing god awful expensive. the killer is.... I have 18-1/4 inches from the top of the tank to the bottom of my bed. moving the tank or bed is no option so im assuming Halids are out. teh other kicker is due to my custom pc's and other parts of the room, including AC im pulling roughly 3300 watts just from my room. Im not fond of LEDS or T5s just because for freshwater, a light is a light just to see your fish. the fixture i have now is a generic 1 t5 bulb, not even a fancy bulb lol. So right now I have 18 inches, 1 wall plug and zero idea if this is even possible. Any engineers? lol. My budget is around $600. I can raise the bed at max another 2-3 inches if needed.

sorry to hear about your wipeout, been there. you can stay under your 600 range with some of the mars leds, many people are using them I do not. but given your budget this seems to be the way to go. a quality t5 will exceed your budget easily not to mention ongoing bulb replacement. like you said a light over your freshwater tank was just to see, the light over a reef is everything. good luck zsu

You mention a t5 fixture would be over my budget, Could you give any brands or ideas for fixtures? I dont mind splurging an extra $2-300, i just cant even find any fixtures at all. Ive heard about some 8 bulb fixtures yet have NEVER seen one and my lfs hasnt heard of them in years? I looked into the LED's and have zero idea as to how many I would need at 18 inch depth.

I hope that bed doesn't see much action ;)... breaking the bed will lead to breaking the tank lol

But a picture would be awesome

Can we see a pic? I really wanna see a tank under a bed haha.. sounds awesome

Its quite a sight. I used to have a bunk bed from my younger days, I then got rid of the bottom bunk and had a regular 75 gallon tank there. Ill try to get a decent pic but my phone camera is broken atm, The only problem with the whole setup is its on the 2nd floor. I would have gotten a regular 120 gallon but structural engineer said it was a no go. That also means no sump so not many corals as im told.
