Hey guys....

Got on marine depot today and saw some new stuff they had on sale. It's called "AZ-NO3 Nitrate Eliminator ".

Supposedly it will bring your nitrates down to undetectable levels through modifying nitrate molcules so they can be removed via your skimmer. Sounds cool anyway. Thinking about tyring some. Have you heard of it?

Try the SPS forum, I see people talking about it often.

thereefgeek has a point, find the source and eliminate the cause of the nitrate.

Sugar and Vodka dosing do the same, but Randy doesn't recommend it, he suggests the above and macro algae.

I have read the pros and cons here. I've decided to take a calculated risk here and use the product. My nitrates are at 25 even though I do 20g water changes everyother week in my 120g reef. Its a new tank that I set up from an existing 55g that was an 8 yr old reef. I always had high nitrates in that tank. My theory for the nitrates is.............

Over the years the LR has accumalated detritus and nitrates from my under maintenaced/underskimmed/over bio loaded reef.

Now in my new system... 120 g tank and 30g sump with the same bio load I'm not making any headway. Or very little. My skimmer is a topfathom with a hagen 802 power head. The skimmer is older and is only rated to 100g.

I'll take the bottles if you still have them Photon.

I used it in the past and see no ill effect to my corals, however, I haven't see any improvement at all, still have 1/2 bottle left sitting. I switched and bought an aqua medic nitrate reactor and now all the colors showed up, couldn't be more happier.

nitrate reactor huh? Might have to try that. I have a few things in place already. Deep sand bed. BIg chunk of cheato in the sump. A so-so skimmer. What model did you get? Media?
