Baby Humu Picasso Triggerfish Feeding

I have a baby trigger about 1 1/2 inches big. It is doing really well. It eats like a pig. I am feeding it frozen Hikari Mysis Shrimp. How much should I be feeding it. Should I put in enough to let it eat for 5 minutes? 2 minutes? Also what should I feed as an alternate to the mysis to vary its diet? At what point in time do I introduce larger food to it .i.e. whole shrimp?

Thank you!

I feed my triggers (and other fish), mysis, brine shrimp plus, small and large sized spectrum pellets, formula 1 and 2, special formula VHP, reef formula, nori, every now and then I chop up a shrimp or drop in an opened clam (still on the 1/2 shell.)

I add kent garlic, zoe, zoecon and selcon.

Be sure to remove any chunks of shrimp, clam not eaten after a few minutes.

I tend to feed my baby fish 3-4 times a day. (Smaller meals)

My smallest baby triggers right now are a bursa who is about 1-1.5 inches, Fuscus about 3 and a Golden Heart about 2.5.

Good luck!

I would pull out any uneaten food- especially fresh shrimp/clam/scallop etc. after 10-15 min.

Put in a very small piece of shrimp, real small, like pea sized for a baby trigger, let him go to town on it and pull whatever is left, if anything after 10-15 min.

Do not feed live food ie., goldfish, ruby reds, minnows, etc ...bad idea to get triggers comfortable killing anything living, one day it will be a tankmate they kill. There is also very little nutrition in them.

If feeding frozen cubed food- 1/2 a cube is more than enough...

If feeding him say Spectrum pellets only add a few--it is also a good idea to turn off any powerheads or filters so the fish can clearly see the food....

HOWEVER!!!!remeber to turn everything back on...I lost an incredible tank..Clarion, breeding Flame Angels and a Queen Angel because my girlfriend forgot to turn things back on....it was horrible!

Throw some blue legged hermits, scarlet hermits, copepods in the tank to act as a clean up crew...
