Well, Im kinda new but I though you guys might get a kick out of these. When I divorced I was left with my ex-wifes 55 tank. She offered me to sell it, but i said Na, Ill keep it and see if its something I wanted to get into. Well by the time I put myself back together as a person I started to dive in reefkeeping. The tank was dismal to say the least. (was never that great to begin with)...Anywho, I have the tank in way better shape than it ever was before (thanks to you guys!)
It not that impressive but looking at the pics together makes me feel somewhat proud.

I guess there just called Button Polyps. Ive seen things that looked close but never quit it. After things started looking better I added the other soft piece you see from the LFS to see how it would fare so far so good.

Now for the scary part, This weekend om going to attempt to replace my CC bed with DSB. I don think I can truly get my cyno on the rocks under control and get the tank looking the way to shuold untill I loose the CC.

WIsh me luck

Um like what? nudi?

Early pics was just low light, neglect, cyno everwhere, tap water top-offs etc.
Once I fixed(Welll fixing is an ongoing thing) those things they started looking better and growing like they would have in the 1st place.

One thing I did notice they really perked up to more water flow. and Maybe more oxygen with retreating cyno?

Sorry still a total rookie. just know enough to break things really bad:D

Thanks everyone I appreciate that.
After everything those Buttons have been through, I think I can get me some other Zoo's now. Man those things are tuff!

Heres my parameters now.
Temp 80-81 F
Salenity 1.025
Ammonia,Nitrite,Nritrate, all 0
PH is on the high side of 8.5
Alk is 10.5
Calcium in 300 ( I know I wound up changing about 45% of the water it that substrate swapout. that really knocked it down. see if i can get it back around 400)
No idea on phosphates no tester

a side question can the be fed or something? id reall love to see them spread.
LOL, the polyps i have now get 'spunked' on about every other day by they tube worms on the rock.

thanks angelrefer. there not very fancy but probably over 5 years old.
In all honestly Ive looked at a ton of polyp gallieres and even though there kinda plain I really havent seen any that resembles them.
Anybody have anything close so I can see what there supppose to look like?

How long has it taken so far for them to go from first picture to last picture?? Expect at least that much more time for them to look completely normal again. Just keep up what your doing and try to get your calcium level back up pronto, for the health of all in the tank. As for feeding them, you'll just have to try. IME, some of mine will, some won't. I would try crushed flake food first, and if they eat that then maybe some cyclop-eeze or brine shrimp.

Good work so far though, keep it up. :D

My Zoo's were closed tight for the longest time (3-4 weeks), I thought they were gonners. I started doing 10% water changes a day even tho the water parameters were good.nitrates 0 ammonia 0 phosphates 0 cal 400 ph 8.3 Nothing changed so Last water change, I decided to start siphoning out my1 1/2 in sand bed ...Soon as I did , wouldn't ya' know the Zoo's started opening up again. I guess something in the sand bed was causing them not to open..but if there was crap in the bed I should of picked up something in the tests you would think... I DUNNO!!!

The 1st pic is back in november and the last is when i started this post.
I just now got a LS bed.

The tiny arms around the edges are becoming more visible since that last pic.Camera is at work. ill post a new pick if anyone is interested.

My other almost dead critter is a grass poylp. Im not sure its going to come back. its seems beter but i just dont know yet. its only now extending its hars out of its purple coating on the rock, but just barely and only in spots.

Still getting my calcium back up from all the water I had to replace from changing the CC out.

Heres an update pic. wonder what the final look will be.

As an aside, i had a goby disappear(die) and cant find the body, in or outside the tank. So now im having a nitrate issue im having to fix.

So far no ill effects

K, I guess this is the final update pic.
All I can say is this thing is immune to nitrates. I still have a trate probelm im working on(around 60)

To be honest the only real thing I did was stop topping off with tap water all that time ago. (I was just doing what my Ex did before I knew anything)

Who knows maybe ill go actually buy myself a new frag, (after I get control of my nitrate issue)
