Bacterial eye infection

I have a clown and bangi cardinal that both have an eye that is clouding over and getting puffy. From what I have been reading it seems to be some type of bacterial infection. The bangi started showing signs yesterday and the clown today.

What is the best way to treat them?

Is there anything I can add directly to a reef tank or do they both need to be moved to a hospital tank?

What is the best medication to use?

Thanks for any information.

Eye infections often clear up on their own ... improving water quality and feeding the fish healthy food may help.

If you don't see improvement then Qt the fish and treat with an antibiotic ... a double dose of maracyn 2 should help things.

Don't use antibiotics in the show tank.

Thanks for the info.

I decided to set up a hospital tank and treat the fish in there. The clowns eye has not changed much but the cardinals continues to get more puffy and glazed over.

My hospital tank is a 10g with a HOB filter and a heater. With the maracyn 2, by double dose do you mean to double the recommended amount. The directions say 2 tablets per 20g the first day and 1 per 20 for the next 4 days. Am I supposed to use 4 per 20g the first day and 2 per 20 each of the next 4 days?

Thanks again
