so i moved a bunch of peperment shrimp from my sump to my display today, and when they went in my female Saddleback ate 2:mad:... could this be the possible cause of the shrimp disapearing from the DT? theres been lots in the sump, so i figured that maybe they were goin into the overflow and into the sump....? The shrimp i put in today were kinda small, so im thinking that maybe their breeding in the sump??? Im clueless with that

So i guess my question is, will she continue to do this if i add more?

And on a less serious question, How will she poop out the shell?:lol2:

They probably are breeding in the sump. I've had Lysmata shrimp breed in my tanks before. I'd be surprised if the larvae are actually surviving and reaching adulthood--from what I understand they're challenging to raise--but I suppose it's possible.

Were they shrimplike, but real tiny? They could have been amphipods--in which case they're great food for your fish and will replenish themselves. Maybe you could post a picture?

Since your clownfish has gobbled up the shrimp you've put in with her previously, my guess is that she'll continue to do so, as long as they fit in her mouth. As a matter of fact, fish being opportunistic feeders, the rule of thumb is often that if a fish can fit another animal into its mouth, the fish will at least attempt to eat it.

the shrimp deff arent larve... there about 3/4"-1"... this was the first time she ate them... will she continue? is this normal behavior for a clown?
