bad co2 regulator

Not knowing the brand you have, I wonder about opening the tank valve all the way? I typically just crack it open a bit. I'm always paranoid that if I leave it wide open, and the regulator has a major failure, I could flood the room with CO2. Same with the valve on the regulator - I try to keep that valved back so there isn't as much pressure on the upstream side of the neelde valve - in case that fails.

I've tried ressurecting CO2 regulators and solenoids in the past, and always thought I had things fixed, and then they would fail again pretty quickly. I've finally decided this is false economy, so now when they go bad, I replace them.
