Badly injured fish treatment [Image warning]

My convict blennie/engineer gobie was fine two hours ago, swimming around and poking out of his cave/ I went to feed and he was curled up at the bottom of his cave being pecked at by another fish.

I noticed my rockwork had changed position slightly. I thought I had it right down to the glass, but I guess I didn't. The below image speaks for itself.

He is still swimming and has some life left in him. He was being picked on by other fish given his state. I have since removed him from the tank and placed him into a 5 gallon bucket of tankwater with a heater, some PVC pipe cover, and an airstone.

I don't know how well fish survive injuries, or if he'll even be around in the morning. Anyone have tips or words of wisdom on helping injuries to heal, or if I can expect him to be able to recover from something like this?

I'd dose antibiotics so that an infection doesn't set in, but honestly I think the fish is too far gone for any help. Although, I've seen Fluke caught with their whole tail fin missing and survive with just a stump, so anything is possible.

Thanks for the reply.

You were correct he didn't make it to the morning, which is what a local fish store thought was going to happen as well. I was prepared to head out and get some antibiotics from the local petsmart today, just didn't know which kind. I might put it on the list for later in case any other injuries happen.

Get yourself the trifecta of antibiotics, that would be Furan-2, Metroplex and KanaPlex. These will cover a wide variety of infections and can be dosed at the same time.
