bait?

what is a promising bait some of you have had success in baiting your mantis traps with?....mine won't come out for raw shrimp....also, since there are so many crabs and snails in my tank, i really can't starve him...any advice not involving rock removal, freshwater dips, or predators? i want to keep this guy (he's amazing) not murder him, just need him in another tank, which is not big enough to replace the rock he is in into...thanks!

I used a the xterminator trap the whole month of November. The first few weeks he didnt take to it too well due to still having some hermits, and snails around to eat. As i was able to remove them little by little and take away his food source, he starved for about a week.

I gave the trap another go at that time with some fresh shrimp again and he was trapped in it within 15 minutes of placing it.

The key to successfully trapping is give him no other alternative for food. I know you said there are so many but little by little remove your CUC and place them into the tank you have ready waiting for him. Then do a swap. Hope that helps.
